Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, enjoyed his NFL bye week by returning to the college football campus where he earned his shot at the big time from as he watched the Texas Tech battle the Kansas Jayhawks.

Mahomes played for the Tech between 2014-2016 on his way to being selected as the 10th overall pick in the 2017 Draft and took a trip down memory lane by heading on the road with Red Raiders.  The college side won their match up 16-13 producing an upset as the Texas outfit improved their record to 5-5 in the Big 12, with the Jayhawks remaining rooted with a 7-3 record.

Despite leaving the college side seven years ago, they continue to maintain a relationship as the Red Raiders inducted Mahomes into their ring of honor in 2022 and now the Chiefs QB has repaid the favor by watching their current stars play.  He also followed another Texas sports team last week as he went courtside to watch the Dallas Mavericks, led by Luka Doncic, defeat the Toronto Raptors 127-116 during his NFL bye week on Thursday, November 9.

Who do the Chiefs play next?

Mahomes’ Chiefs side will face a rematch of the 2023 Super Bowl game as they face the Philadelphia Eagles at the Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas.  The game marks an inter-family derby for the Kelce’s, with Travis playing for the Chiefs as a tight end and Jason playing for the Eagles as a defensive center.

The Chiefs lead the AFC West with a 7-2 record, sitting two games above the Las Vegas Raiders whilst the Eagles lead the NFC East with an impressive 8-1 record, two games clear of the Dallas Cowboys.  The game is scheduled for Monday Night Football on November 21, and is set to be a box office clash between two postseason favorites in Kansas City.
