On this special holiday, the NFL tweeted out a cartoon chock full of references and players who are taking the field this afternoon. This afternoon, the NFL has a slate of three games taking up a special Monday of contests.
Las Vegas travels to Kansas City as the Raiders visit the Chiefs, the New York Giants travel to play the Philadelphia Eagles, and Baltimore will play on Monday Night Football in San Francisco. Throughout the image, there are multiple drawn versions of players who will be featuring in Monday’s games. There are also a number of subtle references for each of the players.
Can you identify all the players in this cartoon posted by the NFL for Christmas Day?
At the top of the image, there’s Travis Kelce who is wearing Taylor Swift inspired friendship bracelets and is feeding a squirrel. This comes after an unearthed tweet of his from years ago about a squirrel went viral. Next to him by the door is Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers, with a bouquet of poinsettias marked for Lamar Jackson.
Near him is Jalen Hurts, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback who is spinning a gold record – possibly the album ‘A Philly Special Christmas Special’ which is lying on the ground next to the record player. Beside Hurts is ‘Kelce Claus’ – Jason Kelce, the Eagles center, dressed up as Saint Nick.
Underneath the Christmas tree are Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby and Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes with dogs around them. Crosby rescues homeless pit bulls and Mahomes’ dogs Silver and Steel are featured. Below them are 49ers QB Brock Purdy reading off a Christmas list and Giants QB Tommy DeVito wearing a foam hand cast in an Italian ‘pinched finger’ gesture.
Finally, there’s Davante Adams and Lamar Jackson opening gifts, Saquon Barkley squatting bags over a broomstick, and Christian McCaffrey quite literally breaking records. Additionally, there are multiple references to shows on Nickelodeon – Rugrats, Fairly Oddparents, Hey Arnold, and Spongebob Squarepants – as the children’s network is doing an alternate broadcast of the Chiefs-Raiders game.
Chiefs-Raiders kicks off at 1:00 ET, Giants-Eagles starts at 4:30pm, and Ravens-Niners begins at 8:15.
