The defending champions LSU Tigers began 2024 with a win. Kim Mulkey’s side comfortably defeated Missouri 92-72. The game was not devoid of controversy, though, with Angel Reese being involved in a nasty incident with opposition player Hayley Frank after appearing to throttle her in the third quarter.
The game was also marked by an event off the court. For Thursday night’s game, hundreds of fans attended the contest dressed as coach Mulkey. The stands were filled with some hilarious costumes as fans did their best to emulate the quirky coach.
This was no coincident though. “Dress like Mulkey” was scheduled ahead of the match and it was well and truly embraced by fans. They weren’t the only ones either- some of LSU’s players also embraced the idea. Flau’jae Johnson’s costume was particularly impressive- the player threw some hoops before the game began dressed as her head coach.
