The Los Angeles Angels are in the midst of their 2024 spring training. Although these games don’t mean much, you couldn’t say the same for their Tuesday matchup against their freeway rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s always a great matchup when these two square off, especially since the Dodgers signed the former Halos two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this past offseason.
Ohtani is no longer in Anaheim, but it was great to see him and Angels superstar Mike Trout together again. Although they are on different teams now, they had a great time catching up on Tuesday. Their interaction went viral before Tuesday’s game.
Here’s how fans reacted to their interaction on the Dodgers Nation’s and LA Sports Report’s Instagram post:
Many Dodger fans speculated that Trout would leave Anaheim for Los Angeles, but as we all know, he’s loyal to the Halos organization. These two were teammates for the last six years. Although they never made the postseason together, Halos fans will forever remember their time together.
The Angels went 194-211 with Ohtani and Trout in the lineup together. Their individual talents speak for themselves, but the Angels struggles had more to do with their lack of talent and injuries everywhere else. A ton of factors outside of these two played into why this duo was never able to sniff the postseason.  Blame the owner, blame the manager, or blame the signings. One thing is for sure: This duo will go down as the biggest ‘What If’ in MLB history.
