A TV sports presenter has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of raping a child. According to The Sun, police conducted a raid of the TV host’s home at 4am earlier this week and seized electronical devices and documents for examination. The man was reportedly held in custody for around 18 hours and was questioned by detectives before being released on bail, pending further inquiries.
The outlet claim that the rape allegation is historical and that the child was younger than 10 years old at the time. The alleged complainant made the allegation recently and it was reported to police before they were interviewed by specialist child abuse investigation officers.
It is alleged that the child was raped on more than one occasion. It is thought that his colleagues were unaware of the incidents. The outlet claim that a neighbour of the man arrested said: ‘The police turned up very early. ‘They took him away and were there for a while Âcarrying out a search. Everyone is shocked at his arrest.’ The Sun claim that the police force conducting the investigation have confirmed the individual’s arrest.
