The NFL removes Cowboys vs Eagles game from prime time after Jalen Hurts’ concussion

hurts commander

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ concussion injury led the NFL to make a scheduling change for Week 17 of the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The game that was originally scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 29 at 4:25 p.m. ET, will now take place at 1:00 p.m. on the same day, while the game between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings was put in its place.  The game between Dallas and Philadelphia will take place at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles.

Hurts’ shock

Hurts suffered a concussion during the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 16 clash against the Washington Commanders.  Hurts took a hit on a carry down the middle of the field, and after an initial evaluation by medical services, he was ruled out for the rest of the game and placed in the NFL concussion protocol.

Now, what before the start of the season looked like an attractive duel between Hurts and Dak Prescott, became a game of backup passers that will pit Cooper Rush against Kenny Pickett.

After Hurts left the game in the first quarter, the Eagles suffered a painful loss to the Commanders. Despite forcing five turnovers, the Eagles could not contain Washington’s rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, who led his team to a 36-33 victory in a dramatic game, thanks to a touchdown in the last 6 seconds of the game.

Eagles still fighting for best record in NFC

Despite the loss, the Eagles (12-3) have a two-game lead over the Commanders in the NFC East, with two games remaining in the regular season, and are still fighting for the possibility of being the best team in the National Conference, although Detroit leads them by one game with a 13-2 record.  After the game against Dallas, Philadelphia will close its season at home against the New York Giants, who currently have the worst record in the entire league at 2-13.
