Taylor Swift announced that she would be postponing her Saturday night show on her ‘Eras Tour’ in Rio de Janeiro to Monday due to extreme heat – one day after a fan died prior to her concert on Friday. This officially confirms that she will not be attending Monday Night Football between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles – where her parents are set to meet the parents of boyfriend Travis Kelce for the first time.
It was previously unknown if Swift was planning to be at the game – but with this move, now she will be preoccupied with honoring her fans’ Saturday tickets with a show. The concert’s organizer, Time 4 Fun, announced on their social media channels that the show would be postponed to Monday. Swift also released a statement via her personal Instagram account: ‘I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio.

The show is now Monday, meaning she’ll miss watching Travis Kelce play against the Eagles
‘The safety and well being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.’ Temperatures at 7:45pm local time on Saturday were 98°F (36°C)- with a heat index of 108°F (42°C) as South America is ramping up for the Summer season. Before this postponement was announced, there was speculation about whether or not Swift would be able to make it back up in time for the game in which her beau, Kelce, had a big rematch on his hands.
Monday Night Football is set to re-hash this past season’s Super Bowl – as the Chiefs and the Eagles are set to clash at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. It’ll pit the two Kelce brothers against each other once again – as Travis takes on his brother Jason. Swift, who was born in the Philadelphia suburbs and was raised an Eagles fan, could have seen her team play her man.
Off the field, her parents – Andrea and Scott Swift – were going to meet Donna and Ed Kelce for the first time. Now, it’s not clear if that will still happen if Taylor is in Brazil. Scott and Travis already met before – and were seen standing together at one of Taylor’s shows in Buenos Aires, Argentina last week.

The postponement of the show came after a 23-year-old fan, identified as Ana Clara Benevides, passed out at the venue and is believed to have suffered from cardiac arrest. Swift showed concern for her fans – who were asking for water in the sweltering heat. She stopped the show to ensure that they got it.
After the news of Benevides’ death leaked, Swift posted an emotional statement on Instagram. ‘I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,’ she wrote.
Ana Clara Benevides fainted while at the show and is believed to have had a cardiac arrest and despite efforts from doctors on site the 23-year-old was subsequently taken to hospital where she died
Taylor Swift broke her silence after Benevides died remembering her as an ‘incredibly beautiful’ person
‘I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.’ ‘I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends,’ she added. ‘This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.’
