Moving to a new team is always a tough transition. It can be awkward at first, especially if you’re not close friends with anyone on the new team. Thankfully for Shohei Ohtani, his move to the Los Angeles Dodgers was supplemented with the signing of Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto. The two were on the same Japan team that won the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

The two appear to be getting along very well in California, as a video was recently published by the team in which they play a game of “Playground Compliments”.

The goal of the game is to make the other laugh. Ohtani ends up losing in the end, bursting out in laughter. It’s clear both players have quickly developed a close bond, which is always important during your first season on a new team, in a new environment. Ohtani recently hit his first two home runs as a Dodger, in back-to-back games. Yamamoto struggled in his first start, but bounced back with a gem of a start in his follow-up.
