Patrick Mahomes played his final regular game of the 2023 season!
The Week 18 matchup at Los Angeles on January 4 will feature the backup quarterbacks for both teams. Patrick Mahomes won’t play in Sunday’s game as he has been given a rest from coach Andy Reid for two reasons. One is to allow him some good time to prepare for the playoffs, and the second is to prevent him from any potential injuries in the last matchup. So, his last regular season game of 2023 was over on December 31.
In place of Mahomes, his backup Blaine Gabbert will start the game at SoFi stadium. Reid in a recent interview said, “…..we’ll rotate the other guys in as we go,” hinting that some reserved players will also get the chance to play the final game. On the side of the Chargers, backup QB Easton Stick will start the game as Justin Herbert is out of the season.
