Emma Raducanu started training on hard courts for the first time in approximately 3 months since she last played professionally. The former US Open winner has been sidelined because of the multiple surgeries she had to overcome in the past months: on both wrists and on the ankle she hurt in Australia.Raducanu announced her comeback on the courts on her Instagram account on Wednesday. “August 2nd, 1ST time back on court, and now to build,” Emma captioned a video showing her hitting a softer kind of tennis balls.

Emma Raducanu will not be able to play the US Open
Emma Raducanu endured three surgeries before her comeback on the practice courts. The young British superstar documented her recovery journey on social media. Her first announcement came at the beginning of May when she stated that she’ll be out until October.”It’s safe to say the last ten months have been tough considering I’ve had to deal with recurring bone injuries in both hands.
I tried my best to manage the pain and play through it in the first part of this season and the last part of last season, dramatically reducing work hours and missing weeks of training. Unfortunately that wasn’t enough. I underwent a little hand surgery to fix the problem.
I am sad to announce that I will be out for the next five months and will need to have another minor ankle operation in the meantime. It hurts me to know that I will miss all summer events. I tried to minimize the problems, so I want to thank the fans who supported me without knowing the facts.
Can’t wait to see you all back on the court.”
