Prince William ‘spitting mad’ at Prince Harry comment in new TV appearance

Prince William is furious at his brother Prince Harry for a comment made in a recent TV interview, sources have claimed.  The Duke of Sussex, 39, has made two TV appearances in just a matter of weeks, first in ITV documentary Tabloids on Trial and then with CBS alongside Meghan Markle, 43, over the weekend.

In the former interview, Harry told journalist Rebecca Barry that his fight with the British media in court had been “central” to his ongoing feud with the royals.  He also referenced his late mother Princess Diana, saying: “There’s evidence to suggest that [my mother] was being hacked in the mid-90s, probably one of the first people to be hacked. And yet still today, the tabloid press very much enjoy painting her as being paranoid. But she wasn’t paranoid.”

But sources tell Australian magazine New Idea that William is furious at his feuding brother for mentioning Princess Diana.  “William is spitting mad that Harry would reference this again,” the insider claimed. “He’s so fed up with [the Sussexes] cashing in on Diana’s death.

ROYAL BROTHERS

“Harry just won’t move on and it appears that since marrying Meghan, the obsession with his mother has only intensified. William’s getting to the point where he’s washing his hands of Harry for good.”  Back in 2017, the brothers promised they would not speak candidly about their mother’s death again – something Harry seemingly has not followed since stepping down as a senior royal.

Speaking to ITV on the 20th anniversary of her death on behalf of both brothers, William said: “We won’t be doing this again – we won’t speak as openly or publicly about her again, because we feel hopefully this film will provide the other side from close family friends you might not have heard before, from those who knew her best and from those who want to protect her memory, and want to remind people of the person that she was.”

The New Idea report went on to claim William no longer “recognises” his brother, with the decisions he is making, making Royal Family relations “worse”.  They even added William was open to the idea of reconciling with Harry in the future, but claims he “doesn’t trust” him now.

The ITV interview focused on Harry’s ongoing issues with the British media. In February, he was awarded £140,600 in damages by the Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) after he claimed information about him was published that was obtained through phone hacking and other illegal methods.

In a statement, an MGN spokesperson said: “We welcomed the judgement in December 2023 that gave the business the necessary clarity to move forward from events that took place many years ago.  “Where historical wrongdoing took place, we apologise unreservedly, have taken full responsibility and paid compensation.”

Harry has previously opened up about the “differences” he has with his brother in a number of TV interviews. In his explosive memoir Spare, he even alleged the pair got into a physical altercation which led to the Duke of Sussex needing “stitches”.  Speaking recently to CBS, Harry and wife Meghan spoke about their desire to protect their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet from online content.

HARRY KIDS

“Our kids are young — they’re 3 and 5. They’re amazing,” Meghan said. “But all you want to do as parents is protect them.”  “So as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there, and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good,” Meghan continued.

Harry added: “At this point, we’ve got to the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder,” he continued. “And even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to tell the signs of possible suicide. That is the terrifying piece of this.”
