Brittany Mahomes is ringing in the new year with a new fitness technique. Indeed, the Sports Illustrated model—who is expecting her third baby with husband Patrick Mahomes—posted an adorable video of her workout with kids Sterling, 3, and Bronze, 2, there to cheer her on. And it seems that her oldest thought the best place to show her support would from right on top of her mother’s head.
“The best workouts,” Brittany wrote over the Jan. 1 video posted to her Instagram Stories, with Sterling sitting comfortably on her mom’s head as she leaned against the weight bench lifting dumbbells.
Brittany was humorously unfazed, showing off her baby bump in a cream-colored hoodie and turquoise leggings that proved she’s staying active even in the last days of her pregnancy. However, she’s keeping it low-key when it comes to more intense activities, recently skipping her husband’s Kansas City Chiefs game on Christmas because, according to Patrick, she is “due any day now.”
“Brittany says I’ve been stressing her out too much this season,” he told sports reporter Kay Adams, “so I got to try to now put so much stress on her.” “Hopefully, God works the right way and maybe we can have that baby on the bye week somewhere,” the 29-year-old continued, “and then everything will work out perfectly.”
After all, Brittany could use a little rest as she nears the end of her third trimester. She even said herself that pregnancy is quite the exhausting feat. “I need naps,” the 29-year-old admitted on an August episode of the Whoop podcast. “So I like to work my naps into my schedule now, because when you’re pregnant you’re tired.”
“With the first pregnancy, it was just me,” she continued. “So I could take naps, sleep all day, you know, I had nothing priority for me to do. Then, with Bronze, it was like, ‘Well, I have to take care of this kid but I’m tired,’ so I would just nap when she napped.”
But whether it’s pregnancy or a back injury, Brittany is not one to let any of it get in the way of her workout routine. After fracturing her back due to pelvic floor issues earlier this year, Brittany and her personal trainer Kirsty Rae shared insight into how she bounced back in the gym.
“Strong mama,” Kirsty wrote over a December video of Brittany doing pull-ups and lat pull downs, “back injury whoooooo?!” And while sharing her impressive routines, Brittany detailed the lessons she learned about adapting her fitness routine to contribute to a smooth recovery after giving birth, especially with her back injury.
“Pelvic floor therapy and really focus on your breathing techniques or you will get injured,” the former professional soccer player explained on the Whoop podcast in August. “I obviously worked out my whole life so I had kids and then I’m like, ‘Oh I’ll just keep working out how I’ve always worked out, I’m fine.’ Well, I hurt my back.”
“I went to therapy, went to chiropractor, went and got X-Rays,” she continued. “In the end, a lot of people talk about pelvic floor therapy and strengthening your pelvic floor after you have kids and how important that is. So obviously, I started to do more of that because I was injured and that’s kind of what my therapy was.” And while the new year has inspired a family workout in the Mahomes household, keep reading to see how other celebs are celebrating New Year’s…
