Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have been making headlines this season, not just for their performance on the field but also for their off-field antics.  Following the Chiefs’ 29-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas Day, Mahomes couldn’t resist making a playful joke at Kelce’s expense, suggesting that the veteran tight end might need some acting lessons after his latest role in Happy Gilmore 2.

When asked what he would get Kelce for Christmas, Mahomes jokingly replied: “The guy’s got everything. Maybe some acting lessons.”  This comment came in response to Kelce’s expanding career in entertainment, which includes his upcoming cameo in the Happy Gilmore 2 sequel. Kelce, 35, has already shown his comedic chops by hosting Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? and appearing on Saturday Night Live.

In Happy Gilmore 2, Kelce is set to play a hotel or country club employee, a role in which he delivers the line, “It’s great to see you back, Mr. Gilmore.”  The humorous exchange between Mahomes and Kelce highlights their strong friendship and good-natured rivalry, further showcasing their lighthearted chemistry off the field.

Kelce’s milestones and Mahomes’ support

Despite the joking, the two continue to shine on the field. Kelce recently surpassed the 1,000-catch milestone and broke the Chiefs’ all-time touchdown record with his 77th career touchdown during the game against the Steelers. With these achievements, Kelce remains a vital player for the Chiefs as they continue to pursue yet another Super Bowl championship.

However, the festive mood was briefly interrupted by a more somber event in the lives of both Mahomes and Kelce. Back in October, both players became victims of burglaries at their respective homes, with thieves making off with thousands of dollars in memorabilia and personal items.

The burglary at Kelce’s estate in Leawood, Kansas, took place on October 7, just before the Chiefs’ game against the New Orleans Saints. The crime was discovered when a deputy from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office arrived at Kelce’s property to find it had been broken into.  The burglars managed to steal designer jewelry, bags belonging to Brittany Mahomes and various items from Mahomes’ collection, including jerseys, trophies and memorabilia.
