Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shouts out Matt Turner while celebrating USMNT victory
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took to Twitter on Sunday night to celebrate the USMNT defeating Canada in the quarter-finals of the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup and gave a special shout-out to goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Mahomes, 27, praised the goalkeeper for making two spectacular saves in the penalty shootout victory over Canada and even tagged his official Twitter account. He also tweeted out a few United States flag emojis after the win.
“Absolute dawg,” Mahomes tweeted.
Turner, 29, replied to the two-time Super Bowl champion and reigning league MVP in the NFL about an hour later. “Let’s go bro,” Turner tweeted. “Love a good dawg fight.”

Patrick Mahomes watches soccer because of his wife
Brittany Mahomes was also ecstatic after USMNT secured its ticket to semi-finals, where they’ll face Panama, and made her joy evident on social media. Brittany, 27, played soccer in college and has enjoyed the sport her entire life. It’s safe to say Patrick is a fan thanks to his wife, who was amazed at the instant-classic of a game she witnessed.

She also tweeted out each time Turner saved a penalty during the shootout. Brittany also re-tweeted the MLS account celebrating the USMNT’s win. Mrs. Mahomes and her husband are co-owners of the Kansas City Current, a NSWL expansion team funded in 2021. They are frequently seen at games.
