The Kansas City Chiefs clinched the AFC West division title with a 19-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers on “Sunday Night Football.”   Chiefs fans at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and all around the world were still holding their collective breath after the clock hit 0:00. Randi Mahomes, mother of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was no exception.

Matthew Wright’s 31-yard field goal as time expired slammed off the left upright, but a fortunate bounce carried it through for the winning score. The victory moved the Chiefs to 12-1 on the season, first in the AFC, while their division rival in Los Angeles dropped to 8-5.

Patrick Mahomes gave his kicker the opportunity to be the hero with a clutch first down completion on Kansas City’s final drive.

The Chiefs faced 3rd and 7 coming out of the two-minute warning, and the Chargers had no timeouts remaining. Mahomes smoothly side-stepped a sack and hit trusted target Travis Kelce for the first down, allowing the Chiefs to control the clock until the game-winning kick.  The excitement of her son’s play and the nerves of the following kick left Randi, 52, to share an exasperated seven-word message with her followers on social media.

“CHIEFS!!!! Wow, my team! Off the goalpost,” said the Mahomes matriarch.  Randi shared on her Instagram story that she was watching the game from home on the television.

Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, attended the game and turned heads in the outfit she posted with Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt.  The quarterback’s family watched him finish the game with a passing line of 24-for-37 for 210 yards and one touchdown.
