There was a humorous moment in the Netflix docuseries “Quarterback” at the conclusion of the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Jaguars in the 2022 playoffs. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered an ankle injury and cameras showed his wife, Brittany, in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium joking about how he would use that to get out of helping around the house.
The couple’s son, Bronze, was 2 months old at the time and they also have a daughter, Sterling, who was about to turn 2 years old. “I’m gonna have to hear about it all week. I can’t do nothin’. I gotta sit on the couch and recover,” Brittany Mahomes joked to a friend. “That’s what it’s gonna be. Yeah, I can’t feed them. I can’t give them a bath. I just can’t move. Yeah, I gotta go get treatment.
I’m sorry. I’m not going to be home till 7 p.m. when the kids are already asleep.” That was a funny moment from the docuseries, which highlighted the strong bond between the couple. We got another example of that Tuesday when Patrick Mahomes was asked about the work he was doing to recover from another ankle injury. This one happened Sunday in Cleveland. Patrick Mahomes gave Brittany, who is a KC Current co-owner, a sweet shoutout during his weekly news conference.
“First we did a little bit when we got back (from Cleveland), just you get back a little bit earlier with a noon game and kind of got ourselves ready even on the plane and then when we got back,” Mahomes said. “Then yesterday, I was just here (at the Chiefs’ facility) pretty much all day. When you want to get out there and play and give yourself the best chance, you have to spend the time here. “Luckily, I have a great wife (Brittany Mahomes) who will take care of the kids when I’m up in the building for 12 hours or whatever it is.”
