The Kansas City Chiefs, like many of us, will sit back and relax with their families on Thursday as they celebrate Thanksgiving. While the defending Super Bowl champions can celebrate, they can’t get too comfortable given they have to prepare for their own game on Friday. For the first time ever the NFL will have a Black Friday game. It will feature the Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders, with the two teams playing to an exciting 27-20 win for KC back on October 27.
Patrick Mahomes was the star performer that day, finishing with 262 yards and two touchdowns, while Travis Kelce had one of his best games of the season with 10 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Chiefs gearing up for Friday’s game
With Friday’s game right around the corner, the Chiefs took to social media to celebrate Thanksgiving and send a special message to fans. The post was a special one as it featured a mock Thanksgiving Day parade float with a turkey wearing a Chiefs helmet. Mahomes is joined by Creed Humphrey, Chris Jones and Trent McDuffie on the float, along with three turkeys – with fans wondering if they point to the team’s three Super Bowl wins over the past five years. “Gobble up, Chiefs Kingdom! Happy Thanksgiving, and we’ll see you tomorrow,” reads the message to fans.

The Chiefs will be hoping Friday’s game is a little more comfortable than their most recent encounter against the Carolina Panthers. Andy Reid’s side needed a last-second field goal to get past the Panthers, and Mahomes admitted he prefers winning by a bigger scoreline. “You want to have some blowouts,” Mahomes said after the win. “You want be a little calmer in the fourth quarter.
“I’ve always said it can be a good thing as you get to the playoffs and later in the season, just knowing that you’ve been in those moments before and knowing how to kind of attack it. But I would love to win a game [before] the very last play.”
