Charles Barkley stirred up the hornet’s nest earlier this week when he had some harsh words for WNBA fans and players after some apparent criticism of Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. Barkley said that instead of criticizing Clark for every single thing she does, the women in the league should be thanking her for all of the attention and eyeballs she brings to the game.
While he isn’t totally wrong, it needs to be pointed out that there are stars across the WNBA who have been growing the sport, and arenas are selling out across the nation, not just when Clark comes to town. Chicago Sky rookie Kamilla Cardoso recently let her thoughts be known on the matter.
“I have one thing to say about this,” Kardoso said on a social media video. “All of our games are sold out, so it’s not because of one person.”
Kamilla Cardoso addresses claims that the current growth of the @WNBA is due to a single person:

Viewership around the league is up this season for the WNBA, and popularity is booming as new stars join an already stacked league. We will continue to see this play out through the rest of the season.
