FS1 analyst Nick Wright had an unexpected Super Bowl weekend moment-not with a fellow sports commentator, but with Pamela Hurts, the mother of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.
During Monday’s episode of First Things First, Wright shared details of what he described as a “tense” yet respectful conversation with Pamela at a Klutch Sports party in New Orleans. The exchange took place just hours before Hurts led the Eagles to a dominant 40-22 winover the Chiefs and claimed Super Bowl MVP honors.
While enjoying his evening, Wright-an outspoken Chiefs fan-was approached by Pamela, who had one pressing question. “Why do you talk so bad about Jalen Hurts?” Pamela Hurts asked. Initially caught off guard, Wright attempted to defend his on-air analysis, insisting that he hadn’t been overly critical of the Eagles star. But Pamela stood firm.  “No, no, you do,” she countered, unwilling to let him off the hook.
As the conversation continued, Wright had a realization. “Ma’am, can I ask you one question real quick?” he said.
Are you Jalen Hurts’ mum?
“Are you Jalen Hurts’ mother?” When she confirmed, the discussion intensified, lasting over 20 minutes as Pamela passionately defended her son. Before parting ways, she left Wright with a bold statement: “I just want to know what you’re going to say when he wins on Sunday.” After witnessing Hurts’ Super Bowl heroics, Wright had his answer. “To Mrs. Hurts and to anyone else, he was phenomenal,” he admitted on Monday’s show.
Despite Kansas City’s defense successfully limiting Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Hurts took control. He completed 17 of 22 passes for 221 yards, throwing two touchdowns and one interception. He also led the Eagles in rushing with 72 yards on 11 carries, averaging 6.5 yards per attempt.
Hurts not only silenced doubters but led what Wright called one of the most dominant Super Bowl performances of all time. As for Pamela Hurts, she didn’t just defend her son-she seemingly predicted his moment of greatness. And in the end, even Nick Wright had to give credit where it was due.
