Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, who is serving a 10-year prison sentence for her role in a homicide, desires to meet Taylor Swift upon her release, but when does she become a free woman again? Blanchard was convicted in 2016, but now aged 32 she will be released on December 28. That’s just in time to see the new year and one of her first ambitions is to head out to the Kansas City Chiefs game on December 31
There, she hopes to catch a glimpse of the Grammy-winning artist, or to even bump into her, according to TMZ. If she misses her at the NFL match, she will turn up at the Eras Tour when it comes to New Orleans in Fall 2024. The reason for her need to meet the “Blank Space” singer is that one of her songs, “Eyes Open”, helped inspire Blanchard to push through the challenges of being a young woman and a person dealing with a prison sentence.
Why is she in prison?
Blanchard gained attention due to a highly publicized case involving her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. Blanchard’s early life was complicated by her mother’s fabrication of her daughter’s health issues, leading to unnecessary medical treatments and presenting her as terminally ill. So in 2015, she orchestrated her mother’s murder with her then-boyfriend by stabbing, claiming it was to escape years of abuse and manipulation.
Their story became the subject of documentaries and a TV series, shedding light on complex issues surrounding Munchausen syndrome by proxy and the impact of childhood trauma. Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 10-year prison sentence, which she has so far served seven of.
Who do the Chiefs play next?
After their Week 15 27-17 victory over the New England Patriots, the Chiefs remain alive in the race for the postseason and at the summit of the AFC West with a 9-5 record. They can get into double figures for the first time this year in their upcoming game against the Las Vegas Raiders on December 25.
