Angel Reese, the Chicago Sky rookie, made headlines for her unique response to a $1,000 fine imposed by the WNBA.

Angel Reese isn’t worried about WNBA fine

The league penalized Reese for not participating in a mandatory media session following a closely contested game against the Indiana Fever.  During the game, Reese was seen supporting a teammate involved in a controversial incident with Caitlin Clark.

This moment, combined with the intense history between Reese and Clark from their NCAA matchups, sparked significant interest.  However, reporters were left without Reese’s comments post-game as she skipped the media session, leading to the fine.  Despite the financial penalty, which also included an additional $5,000 fine for the Chicago Sky, Reese seemed unfazed.

Shortly after the fine was announced, she took to Instagram, showcasing a sponsored post featuring fashion brands Revolve and Sami Miro Vintage.  The post, highlighting her pregame outfit, was simply captioned “legz,” with a tag to Revolve, signaling another lucrative brand partnership in her portfolio.

This Instagram activity suggests that Reese is not overly concerned about the $1,000 hit to her $81,000 annual salary.  With a robust lineup of sponsorships, her income from brand deals likely far exceeds any fines she incurs.

As a prominent figure in the WNBA’s 2024 draft class, alongside other notable rookies like Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink, Reese continues to elevate the league’s profile both on and off the court.

Beyond her basketball career, Reese is also known for her philanthropic efforts.  She established the Angel Reese Foundation, which focuses on providing opportunities for girls and marginalized groups in sports, education, and financial literacy.  This initiative underscores her commitment to giving back to the community and fostering equity.
