In the world of sports, athletes often have to suppress their real selves to become successful and reach the heights they dream of. But this stereotype has been broken by none other than the “Bayou Barbie’. She continues to be unapologetic for who she is and for her actions.
The WNBA legend and Olympic gold medalist, Angel McCoughtry, opened up about LSU star Angel Reese’s unapologetic attitude.
The impact of Angel Reese on the sports world
Angel Reese has been making the headlines with her impressive basketball skills and unstoppable talent. She’s the kind of player everyone wants to have on their team, not against. Being her true self on the court and not apologizing for it is one of her traits loved by the fans. And joining the club of being impressed by her is the WNBA All-star Angel McCoughtry.
“I think that’s what she’s teaching all of us — that you don’t have to fake it ’til you make it. You can be unapologetically you and make it. … That’s how powerful her story is.” — Angel McCoughtry

In a recent interview with The Athletic, McCoughtry said, “That an African American woman from Baltimore can speak her mind, that she can totally be herself. She doesn’t have to, as so many of us heard growing up, ‘fake it ’til you make it. I think that’s what she’s teaching all of us, that you don’t have to fake it ’til you make it. You can be unapologetically you and make it. That’s how powerful her story is.” Notably, Angel Reese is making waves in college basketball.
