Dak Prescott talks about facing Philadelphia Eagles: What does “pour honey on me” mean?

The Dallas Cowboys put together another dominant performance on Sunday, dismantling the Los Angeles Rams 43-20. The blowout win marked the fourth (of five total) win by at least 20 points of the season for Mike McCarthy’s squad.

More importantly, Dak Prescott played his best game of the season. He averaged an impressive 9.8 yards per attempt, completed over 80% of his passes and threw four touchdowns. He got whatever he wanted through the air against a Rams defense that had only allowed four passing touchdowns coming into the week.

Dak Prescott wants to poke the bear, Jerry Jones does not

The Cowboys now turn their attention to their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas needs to beat Philadelphia and close the gap in order to have a shot at the division crown. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about the upcoming game, but refused to say much about it.

” I’ve made every kind of mistake talking about it too early or too late that you can make. And yeah, I learned from that one (the 49ers game), too… Yeah, let’s soak this one up. I don’t want to do anything to poke the bear”.

A few moments later, Prescott stepped up to the podium to give his postgame press conference. Jones’ comments about not poking the bear were mentioned to the quarterback, and he responded with confidence.

“Pour honey on me, I always say that. If you see me and a bear in a fight, pour honey on me. I’m excited for that.”

Prescott was seemingly taking the bear reference literally. If the Eagles are the bear, then Prescott wants to invite the bear to fight him.

Of course, it’s easy to be confident following a performance like the one Prescott and the Cowboys had Sunday. It will be different when they actually step on the field with Philadelphia next weekend.
