The Kansas City Chiefs’ bid for a three-peat ends at Super Bowl LIX with a lopsided loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Andy Reid addressed the media after the 40-22 loss in New Orleans during his postgame press conference.  “My hat goes off to the guys for that (playing hard until the end), and we’ll learn from this,” said Reid. “like most games here, when you don’t do very well, you learn from it as a coach; you learn from it as a player, and you move on.”

Kansas City’s offensive line noticeably struggled in protection, with Patrick Mahomes suffering multiple sacks and constant pressure.  “They played well. They’re good players and have a good scheme, and they executed better than what we did,” said Reid. “Coach better starts with me, and they played better.”

Reid took responsibility for the team’s lackluster performance but explained his frustration from the loss and missing out on the three-peat.  “Listen now, they all hurt. You get this far; you battled your tail off to get this far. Very, very hard to do. We spent a lot of time doing this. It’s not a hobby, right?” said Reid.

“So we were in it the whole way and spent a lot of hours doing it as players, as coaches. So it’s going to hurt. They all hurt when you get to this level, and these things happen three-peat aside, any of that stuff that you get this far, you don’t play as well as you want to; it hurts.”  The offseason will bring changes to the team, but Reid will likely return as the head coach.
