There was a big divide in Dallas.
Patrick Mahomes, who’s widely known as a Mavericks fan, was loudly cheered on Sunday while sitting in the front row of an NBA playoff game.
Travis Kelce wasn’t as forunate.
When Mahomes’ teammate was shown on the big screen above the court, Kelce was loudly booed and appeared to be shocked at the cold reception he received. “He couldn’t believe it. LMAO!” one fan tweeted. “What did Trav do?” a second fan posted. “They’re booing him because he showed up without Taylor (Swift),” a third fan said. “Deserved,” a fourth fan wrote.
Whether it was because Swift wasn’t in attendance or something more personal, it’s unclear why Mavericks supporters loudly booed one of the best tight ends in NFL history. But it was obvious that the NBA crowd loved Mahomes, who’s a three-time Super Bowl MVP and become the new face of the NFL.

“Kelce was on the last place team in my fantasy league,” one fan joked. “Mahomes was a champion. Make sense.”
The Kansas City quarterback has attended multiple Mavs playoffs games this season and was in the house again to watch Dallas take a big 3-0 lead over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals. “Well Pat’s from Texas,” one fan tweeted. “Travis isn’t. So, yup, he got booed.”
Even the Mavs got in on the fun during a 116-107 home victory. “Our guy Pat and @taylorswift13’s boyfriend in the house!” the team’s official account tweeted. Mahomes and Kelce have stayed busy after the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
