The Kansas City Chiefs’ trip to Denver was anything but easy. However, Patrick Mahomes and the team has made it home, which is a big relief for the quarterback. And that’s because of one very specific reason.
“No one happier to get back to KC than Patrick Mahomes. He told me his wife Brittany is due to give birth to their 3rd child on Sunday. If she doesn’t give birth by then she will be induced Monday. There was def extra motivation for Patrick to get that bye week!,” CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
And now, he gets to spend time with his family as the couple prepare to welcome their third child. But, it was nerve-racking for Mahomes to have to leave his wife so close to her due date. A blizzard on Saturday had the team planning to leave early. However, their charter plane was delayed due to mechanical issues, so that early departure never happened. And by the time the plane did finally arrive, the weather conditions were already bad.
The flight was delayed, but after hours on the runway, they were able to takeoff and get to Denver. Following the game, they were forced to stay an extra night rather than coming right home due to the amount of snow in Kansas City.
Kansas City has to stay overnight in Denver because of weather issues in KC. 8 inches of snow have already fallen and they are expecting up to 12 inches. There is 2 inches of ice underneath the snow and airport is closed. They will leave tomorrow morning . #Chiefs

Finally on Monday, they touched back down in Kansas City.
The #Chiefs, finally, just took off from Denver and are headed back home to Kansas City — nearly 24 hours after kickoff against the #Broncos.

So, with no game for the Chiefs this weekend, Mahomes will be able to be there for the birth of his third child with no worry.
