Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon is all business before her team’s May 15 WNBA regular season debut against the Dallas Wings. After spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach for the New Orleans Pelicans, Wednesday marks Weatherspoon’s first opportunity to earn a ‘Win’ as a WNBA head coach. And it’s an opportunity that Weatherspoon has earned. She has gleaned a lifetime’s worth of knowledge and insights; first during her Hall of Fame playing career, and then as a coach after that.
There seems to be one message that Weatherspoon is sharing with Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky teammates, ahead of their regular season debut. “The one thing I tell all of them, every one of them, and my message is very clear, is we all cannot become complacent,” Weatherspoon told media.
“Because you have to sustain this… You can’t just be okay now. You have to want more, you have to give more, you have got to do more. You have to remain hungry. “So it’s about sustaining it,” Weatherspoon concluded. Clearly Weatherspoon doesn’t want Reese and the rest of the Chicago Sky resting on their laurels, now that the games count.
