When Bronze Mahomes, son of the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick, was rushed to ER it left his mother, Brittany, feeling terrified as she revealed her feelings on the incident. The infant, who just turned one year old, suffered an allergic reaction to peanuts leaving her both scared but relating more to her fellow parents and mothers who have to experience the same situation.
“We recently found out my son Bronze has a severe peanut allergy, which led to a scary trip to the ER,” Brittany Mahomes said to People. “It was one of the most terrifying days of my life. “Fortunately, he was okay, but I’ve had to cope with this new way of living and ensure my family is safe inside the home and out.”
The shock of the saga left her determined to make a difference and that drive led her to partner with OWYN (Only What You Need), which is a flavored plant-based beverage containing no artificial ingredients and critically free of the top nine common allergens.
Together they have pledged to donate a six-figure sum to FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) aiming to help the 85 million American lives that are impacted through allergies to foods and drink. “I can relate to all moms and families out there that are dealing with children with severe food allergies,” Mahomes added. “The holiday season is extremely difficult when gatherings and activities revolve around food. “It is so special to be able to help these people and reassure them that they are not alone.”
When do the Chiefs play next?
The Chiefs will look to bounce back from a 27-19 loss in Week 13 to the Green Bay Packers against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, December 10. The Missouri team currently leads the AFC West with an 8-4 record (.667) ahead of the Denver Broncos, who are two wins behind after a midseason resurgence.
