The WNBA has arguably never been more popular as the 2024 season dawns, with an injection of young stars ready to enter the league and make their mark in an incredible moment for women’s basketball. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are among those set to debut next month when the new season tips off, and fans are already gearing up for perhaps the most-anticipated season in the league’s history.
Clark’s Indiana Fever jersey sales have broken records, and the ubiquity of her #22 has become emblematic of the growth in women’s basketball over the past year. But in a continuation of her college rivalry with Clark, Reese — drafted seventh overall by the Chicago Sky — is seeing her own jersey fly off the shelves in eager anticipation of her May debut.
Reese’s jersey has sold out
Reese on Sunday took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank her fans…because her new Sky jersey is sold out online, less than a week after she discovered her WNBA destination. Calling it “crazy” — but in a good way — Reese confirmed that her #5 jersey, sold by the retailer Fanatics, was no longer available to purchase in any size.
my jersey already being sold is crazy 🥺i love yalllll

Reese, then, has mirrored Clark in that her jersey immediately became a top-selling item that Fanatics could not restock to entirely meet demand. It speaks to the spike in popularity of women’s college basketball and is an encouraging sign that that fan interest will follow Reese and Clark into the start of their professional careers.
🚨 THIS IS NOT A DRILL, SKY FANS! 🚨

Reese and college-rival-turned-teammate Kamilla Cardoso will take the floor together for the first time in an official WNBA game when the Sky visit the Dallas Wings on May 15 — and it seems like a safe bet that a few #5 jerseys with Reese’s name on the back will be seen in the crowd at Arlington’s College Park Center that night.
