Angel Reese has opened up about the lessons she’s learned from navigating a highly publicized relationship. Following her split from former Florida Seminoles player Cam’Ron Fletcher, Reese took to social media to share her thoughts on the scrutiny and challenges of maintaining a public romance
In a candid post on X, the 22-year-old expressed, “Now I see why people hide relationships & keep everything private like I don’t think I’ll ever openly share that part of my life with y’all again until I’m married cause y’all do THE MOST!” The comment not only revealed Reese’s frustration with the public’s intrusion into her private life but also hinted at a shift in how she plans to handle future relationships.
Reese and Fletcher initially appeared to have an ideal relationship. The pair grew close during the pandemic after knowing each other for years. In June 2023, Reese revealed their romance to the public, and fans were quick to celebrate their connection.  On the 1 Star Recruits podcast, Reese spoke warmly about their bond, saying, “We both play the same sport, so we understand each other’s schedule. I think that also helps with it too.”

The couple’s love story became even more endearing when Fletcher surprised Reese on Valentine’s Day with a romantic gesture. Despite recovering from surgery, the 6-foot-7 guard managed to send Reese 200 roses along with a heartfelt note. Reese shared the moment on her Instagram Story, gushing, “Long distance is the worst. But he is all the way in NYC. Just had surgery & did this. I love you a MILLION TIMESSSSSS.”
However, as Reese prepared for the final stretch of her collegiate career, their relationship faced mounting pressure. Speculation about their breakup grew when both unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Reese eventually deleted all photos of Fletcher from her account.
Reflecting on Public Breakups
Reese later addressed the situation on her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, describing the fallout as exhausting. “It’s too much, like people knowing when y’all unfollow each other… even for his sake,” she shared. She also noted that the disparity in their public profiles complicated matters. “Obviously, his name wasn’t as big as mine… like just being able to see them commenting on his pictures with my name. Like just leave it.”
While Reese achieved significant success, winning the NCAA Championship and becoming a top candidate for the WNBA, Fletcher’s career was hindered by injuries. This disparity, coupled with the public attention, seemed to widen the gap between them.
Now focused on her career and personal growth, Reese has resolved to keep her relationships out of the spotlight moving forward. “I don’t think I’ll ever get into another public relationship unless I’m getting married,” she stated during her podcast. For fans, this means waiting until Reese is ready to share her love life on her own terms. Until then, the “Double-Double Queen” remains committed to keeping her private life private, proving that some lessons come with a high price but lead to invaluable growth.
