Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs can breathe a sigh of relief after missing Hollywood Brown. The wait might be over now as we might see the wideout soon. Earlier, Patrick Mahomes went on Carrington Harrison’s radio show and revealed that Brown has been “working.” We took it with a grain of salt until Thursday.
Brown is indeed up and running and is in a condition to possibly be on the field. Ian Rapoport just confirmed it. The wideout suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation aka collarbone injury and had to get surgery. He practiced with a JUGS Machine before the Chiefs’ week 14 game, showing early signs. Anyway, here’s what Rapoport thinks of Brown’s return.
The NFL Insider’s post on X said, “Sources: #Chiefs WR Hollywood Brown has received final clearance to practice, paving the way for him to play before the regular season ends.” He also mentioned how the Kansas City Chiefs have been cautiously optimistic and stated, “Brown, who is recovering from surgery to repair his SC joint, should have his window opened Friday or Monday. The team will be cautious.”

Also, Pete Sweeney, who has been covering the Kansas City Chiefs for more than a decade confirmed what Rapoport said about Hollywood Brown. In a reply to his post, Sweeney wrote, “The plan right now is for Brown to return to the practice field on Friday, per source. 125 days after his preseason injury, the Chiefs marquee free-agent addition should be back in the mix.”
A couple of sources earlier suggested that Brown could be playing in the Christmas Day game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. That may turn out to be true as head coach Andy Reid also lowkey confirmed Brown’s return. “He’s getting close,” Andy Reid told the Chiefs Wire. “He’s chomping at the bit to get back out there, but he’s got to visit with the doctor to make sure he gets clearance there.” So what does the main man, Patrick Mahomes, think of all this? He’s the one who’s going to be with him on the field. Hence, his opinion matters.
Patrick Mahomes celebrates Hollywood Brown’s return
A couple of days ago, Patrick Mahomes appeared on Carrington Harrison’s Show, talking about how Hollywood Brown is supposed to see his surgeon in week 15 and might be on the field by week 16 or 17. The Chiefs cannot be shorthanded during the playoffs, so his return is exactly what they need right now. He knows the Chiefs’ offense, and it might not take him long to be reintegrated into the system.
“Yeah, no. I mean, he’s been, he’s been working, man. He’s saying he’s ready to go. I mean, obviously, it’s a long break, and he has to get cleared, and all that different type of stuff to play. But I mean, he’s ready, he’s ready to go. And I’m excited for him, and hopefully he’s able to get out there quicker, sooner rather than later,” Patrick Mahomes said on Carrington Harrison’s radio show.
Mahomes further indicated that he needs him ready by the time playoffs come. Hollywood Brown has kept us apprised of any updates (for the most part). He had been updating his Instagram stories of sprinting around, catching passes from the JUGS Machine, and other rehab routines. Hopefully, his comeback is strong.
