Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown recently became the highest-paid receiver in the NFL with a new three-year, $96 million contract extension. However, Brown shrugged off the significance of his new title, emphasizing his focus on proving his worth on the field.  “Nothing. Nothing,” Brown told reporters when asked about being the top-paid wideout. “I want to prove it. … We don’t play on paper. Nobody cares what’s in the bank account when you step between them lines.”

The 26-year-old receiver’s new deal includes $84 million in total guarantees, making him the highest-paid wide receiver in terms of annual value. Despite this achievement, Brown remains focused on achieving team success.

Part of Brown’s nonchalant attitude toward his new contract might stem from the knowledge that his compensation could soon be surpassed by other emerging star receivers like CeeDee Lamb, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson. Brown’s contract extension came shortly after Amon-Ra St. Brown briefly held the title of highest-paid receiver with the Detroit Lions.

The Eagles have a long-term receiving corps

For Brown, the ultimate goal is not personal accolades but winning a Lombardi Trophy. Since joining the Eagles via trade two years ago, Brown has been a key playmaker for the team.  He has recorded 194 receptions, 2,952 receiving yards, and 18 touchdowns in his two seasons with the Eagles, earning him Second-Team All-Pro honors and Pro Bowl selections in both years.

Brown’s impact on the Eagles’ offense alongside quarterback Jalen Hurts has been significant, and the team is hoping that his new contract extension will solidify their receiving corps for years to come.  His partnership with fellow receiver DeVonta Smith, who also recently signed a contract extension, has been instrumental in revitalizing the Eagles’ passing attack, making them one of the most formidable receiving duos in franchise history.
