After taking down the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Divisional round on the road, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Kansas City head coach Andy Reid gave a fired-up, locker-room victory speech to their team.  The Chiefs defeated the Bills 27-24 in a game with five lead changes and Kansas City’s biggest stars rising to meet the occasion.

The win was also Kansas City’s third straight victory over Buffalo in the playoffs in the last four years, with Sunday’s triumph being the first to take place at Highmark Stadium.  Defeating the Bills came at a time when the Chiefs looked publicly vulnerable with distractions such as Taylor Swift. On the field, the team’s dominance had been muted for much of the season.  Instead, the consistency of Kansas City continued and denied Buffalo a chance to vanquish its rival.

‘In case you didn’t know, we got another one next week,’ Kelce said. ‘Let’s f***in’ go!’  ‘Hey listen no dancing today,’ Reid jumped in and said. ‘We got more to do. But you know what? We’re going to enjoy this one like a son of a buck.’  ‘Proud of everybody. Defense, I’m proud of you for battling,’ Reid continued. ‘I’m proud of you man. That was a great offense you were battling all night, or day, whatever we are. Lets take a knee, but first, how about those Chiefs!’

‘Hell yeah!’ Kelce retorted, when Reid mentioned the defense.  ‘Shut the door baby!’ Mahomes also shouted when his head coach gave praise to the Chiefs’ defense.  After a few seconds of celebration, Mahomes wanted to add a few words, with Kelce telling his teammates ‘Hey listen up!’  ‘Hey real quick. They asked for it, and they got what they asked for,’ Mahomes said. ‘But [Reid] said it. This s*** ain’t done. We come back next week ready to f***in’ go!’  ‘And turn it up a notch!’ Kelce added.

The Chiefs will play in their sixth straight AFC Championship game on Sunday, not hosting the game for the first time since the 2017 season.  Instead, they’ll travel to Baltimore for a chance to make their fourth Super Bowl in five years.  Kansas City will have to defeat Baltimore, which didn’t give up an offensive touchdown to the Houston Texans in its Divisional round win.
