MIAMI Dolphins star Tyreek Hill has been texting his former teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce before their wild-card showdown. The former Kansas City Chiefs star, 29, will go up against Mahomes and Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday.
Tyreek Hill is set to face his former team in the NFL playoffs
Hill spent six years as a Chief and Kelce has claimed the speedy wideout is still loved by fans of the franchise. This weekend’s Wild Card game is expected to be played in extreme conditions, with freezing temperatures forecast in Missouri.
That hasn’t stopped Hill from trying to stir up a rivalry over WhatsApp with his former teammates. The veteran wideout revealed he has avoided Mahomes since losing to the Chiefs in early November. Per Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post, Hill said, “I haven’t texted Mahomes since they beat our a** [earlier in the season]. “I texted Kelce but haven’t heard back. He’s probably doing the Taylor Swift thing.”
The Chiefs and Dolphins met in Germany two months ago, with the reigning Super Bowl champions winning 21-14. Hill led the Dolphins in receiving during the contest, taking 8 catches for 62 yards. He has enjoyed a stunning season on offense, racking up 1,799 total receiving yards and 13 touchdowns. Kelce, who is dating pop sensation Swift, doesn’t expect Hill to get a hostile reception from the Kansas City crowd.
The nine-time Pro Bowler told reporters, “You know what, I expect KC to give him nothing but love – until he’s putting up a peace sign or something like that. “Then he might hear a few boos. Who he was for this community, it speaks volumes. “He made it his effort to go out, shake hands, give kids an experience they’ll never have again. “That’s why Tyreek is loved in this city.” The Chiefs host the Dolphins on Saturday at 8 pm ET.
