Eagles QB Jalen Hurts Gets Brutally Honest About Offensive Struggles

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles suffered their second straight loss on Black Friday, falling at home to the Chicago Bears by a final score of 24-15. It was a tough way to lose against a team many felt the Eagles should beat.

Once again, the Philadelphia offense sputtered. That issue has been seen in many different games this season and has become a potentially fatal flaw for the Eagles.

When all was said and done this week, Hurts completed 19 of his 34 pass attempts for 230 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also ran four times for 31 yards and lost a fumble on a “Tush Push” play.

Right now, Philadelphia appears to be reeling. With all of the reported locker room issues, there are concerns about the Eagles and their ability to turn things back around in a positive direction.

Following the loss, Hurts was asked about the offensive struggles. He spoke out with brutal honest about the issues.

“[It’s] a combination of a lot of things. Ultimately, you look inward first, and I see it as how the flow of things has gone for us this year, and being practical about that,” Hurts said. “I can’t turn the ball over, so the ultimate goal is to go out there and find a way to win. That’s been a direct correlation with success for us being able to protect the ball, and so that really, really killed us.”

Seeing a franchise quarterback take accountability for his team’s struggles is refreshing. Hurts and the offense do need to take better care of the football. That will be step one to turn things around.

Hurts will also need to channel his inner Michael Jordan to lead his team forward. It does seem like there are some bad relationships within the locker room. If those reports and rumblings are true, Hurts needs to become a leader and make his teammates better around him.

Back in July, Hurts spoke out about his relationship with Jordan and how he can lean on the NBA legend for advice and wisdom.

“That’s been a growing relationship and growing friendship,” Hurts said. “And obviously the mentality he’s had, what he’s meant to competitive sports, speaks for itself. That’s something that I’m able to lean on.”

Next up for Philadelphia will be a tough Week 14 matchup on the road against Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers. The Eagles badly need to find their way back into the win column.

Hearing Hurts open up honestly about where he needs to improve is a good sign. Now, he needs to figure out how to bring his team together and get the best out of the entire offense next week.
