Dave Roberts makes a fool of himself one day before trying to save the Dodgers in the World Series

The manager, who has faced heavy criticism, is trying to maintain a positive atmosphere. The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a painful defeat in Game 5 of the World Series, leaving them in a tough spot heading into their return to Toronto, where the champion will be decided. Dodgers vs Blue Jays World Series has become a must-watch showdown, with Dave Roberts’ team against the ropes (2-3). Still, that hasn’t stopped them from enjoying themselves.
That much was made clear by the much-criticized LA manager, who challenged one of his players (who is in his prime) to a race around the bases-and it didn’t go well at all.
Dave Roberts’ failed sprint at Dodgers practice
Roberts, 53, ended up looking “ridiculous.” He got a slight head start in the sprint, briefly reliving his glory days running the bases, but it didn’t help much. The 11-year MLB manager stumbled and fell near the end, winding up with his uniform covered in dirt, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

“Dave Roberts jokingly challenged Hyeseong Kim to a race running the bases at the Dodgers’ workout just now. He got a big head start – but then tripped and fell rounding second.”
Even though they’re down in the World Series win count, this doesn’t seem to be dampening the Dodgers’ spirits, which is a positive sign for Dodgers World Series comeback hopes.
This Friday, the Los Angeles team is obligated to win if they want to stay alive, because a loss would crown the Toronto Blue Jays as 2025 World Series champions.
To the mound, Dave Roberts will send arguably the Dodgers’ best pitcher this season, Yoshinobu Yamamoto-a pitcher who already started in this World Series, recording eight strikeouts, allowing four hits and one earned run in his complete-game outing.
