Patrick Mahomes Makes Heartwarming Announcement Before Raiders Game

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is arguably one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Following his dominant performance against the Detroit Lions, he won the AFC Offensive Player of the Week award for the 12th time in his career.

During Kansas City’s 30-17 victory against Detroit, Mahomes recorded his 27th career game with at least three touchdowns and zero interceptions — the most of any player since he entered the league in 2018.

As the Chiefs prepare to travel to Allegiant Stadium to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7, Mahomes’ stats should only continue to improve with the return of his No. 1 wide receiver, Rashee Rice.

Through six games, he’s completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,514 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. The three-time Super Bowl MVP also leads the team in rushing with 38 carries for 222 yards and four touchdowns.

While Mahomes racks up accolades for his performance on the field, the 30-year-old quarterback also deserves applause for his off-the-field achievements. On Thursday, October 16, Mahomes proudly shared exciting news regarding his 15 and the Mahomies Foundation.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes Inspired 2,110 Kids TO Volunteer for Service This Year

Mahomes established 15 and the Mahomies in 2019, a foundation dedicated to improving the lives of children and to support “initiatives that focus on health, wellness, communities in need of resources and other charitable causes,” the website states.

In partnership with the Youth Volunteer Corps, 15 and the Mahomies announced, “Thanks to Patrick’s leadership, 2,110 young people dedicated 92,714 hours of service across 194 cities in 5 countries this year. 💛🌎.” Mahomes reposted the announcement on X on Thursday.

Each kid joining the program promises to commit 15 hours of service toward the community. The program already shattered its initial goal of reaching a total of 50,000 hours of service.

A kid in Kansas City named Janeesa shared a heartwarming quote: “Patrick Mahomes inspired me to volunteer because he seems like a good person who gives back to his community, and I want to do the same.”

Patrick Mahomes’ Partnership With My Cleats, My Cause Raised Over $22,000

During the 2024 My Cleats My Cause, in which players wear custom cleats for an initiative dear to their heart, 15 and the Mahomies Foundation teamed up with FARE, Food Allergy Research & Education. Mahomes’ two eldest children, Sterling, 4, and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon, both have food allergies.

Mahomes wore his custom “15 and FARE” cleats against the Raiders in Week 13 last season. After the Chiefs defeated Las Vegas 19-17, the cleats went up for auction. The bidding ended on February 11, according to the latest update on NFL Auction. After 69 bids, the winner took home the cleats for $22,050.

Instead of keeping the “15 and FARE” cleats, LK Snacks, which made the winning bid, donated each shoe to a local hospital in Kansas City to help further spread awareness.
