Philadelphia Eagles star slams team as ‘predictable’ after another poor offensive show in New York Giants loss
A PHILADELPHIA Eagles’ star has slammed his own team, saying they are predictable, after another poor offensive show on Thursday.
The Eagles lost to the New York Giants 34-17 on TNF in Week 6. Again, Philly struggled with their running game, which has often been a strength of theirs in recent years.
Right tackle Lane Johnson, 35, said they need to become less predictable if they want to improve, but still backs offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
Speaking after the game, he said, “It seems a lot harder than it needs to be. “Maybe moving forward, just have a little bit more variety, hitting the perimeter some.”
“I’m with Kevin until the end. A lot of it comes down to execution. “We’ll go back and look at this tape and see what we’ve got to fix. “But moving forward, maybe more efficient, less predictable and capitalize on big plays and explosives.”
The Eagles opened the scoring against the Giants with a field goal before Jaxson Dart’s fast feet gave the Giants back-to-back TDs. Dallas Goedert charged into the end zone at the end of the first quarter before another tush push gave the Eagles a 17-13 lead.
Cam Skattebo then powered over for three unanswered touchdowns as the Giants ran away with the game. The rookie RB had an impressive game, rushing for 98 yards alongside his three scores.
After the game, Skattebo got caught up in the excitement on Amazon’s TNF show alongside Ryan Fitzpatrick. Saquon Barkley made 12 carries against his former team, yielding just 58 yards and no touchdowns.
This was the fifth time in six games that he had been held to 60 yards or less on the ground. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year’s struggles epitomizes the Eagles’ issues.
He told reporters, “I think we also have to get back into that attitude, that mindset, not really giving a f*** what people are trying to do. “That’s something that I’m looking for.”
Barkley joined the Eagles in 2024 ahead of their Super Bowl-winning season last year. He had played all six of his NFL seasons in New York before that, having been selected by them as the 2nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
In his first season, he was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and has since been named to three Pro Bowls.
