Taylor Swift seems to be bringing Travis Kelce good luck on the football field.
On Wednesday’s episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, Travis, 34, opened up to his brother, Jason about his improved performance on the field when Swift is there to cheer him on. The Philadelphia Eagles center, 35, said, “When T Swift is at the game, you are averaging 99 yards and when you are left with only your friends and remaining family there, you are at 46.5 yards a game.”
Travis, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, replied, “It’s kind of hard for me to wrap my head around that sentence.” It was another big weekend for Travis as Swift watched the Chiefs defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 31-17. The sports star logged 179 yards during Sunday’s matchup, marking one of his best-ever games, per ESPN.
The brothers also talked about the support Travis’ coach, Andy Reid has shown for the budding romance. “It appears that Big Red is noticing it because he weighed in in his post-game press conference,” Jason said. “He was asked about your big game and his response was, ‘Kelce keeps getting better with time, Taylor can stay around all she wants.’ ” Travis then added, “Listen, when you’re getting Big Red’s approval and blessings, you know you’re doing something right.”
Sunday’s win marked the Chiefs’ fourth in a row, extending their winning streak any time Swift, 33, is in the crowd — which started on Sept. 24. The “Anti-Hero” singer was spotted at a pregame party with fellow Chiefs fans on Sunday ahead of arriving at Arrowhead Stadium. At the game itself she sat in the Mahomes’ family’s suite and cheered on the team alongside the quarterback’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, as well as his 11-month-old son, Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.
Swift and Mahomes even debuted a special handshake. After the game, the singer was spotted leaving the stadium hand-in-hand with Travis. And a photo shared on Monday by a teammate’s girlfriend showed the singer kissing the tight end’s cheek as they posed with Mecole Hardman Jr. and his girlfriend, Chariah Gordon.
Meanwhile, Jason told NBC Sports on Sunday that the attention his brother’s love life has been getting has “certainly been weird,” but he’s supportive of him nonetheless. “On one hand, I’m happy for my brother that he seems to be in a relationship that he’s excited about, that he is genuine about,” Jason said. “But there’s another end of it where it’s like, ‘Man, this is a lot.’” He continued, “This is another level of stardom that typically football players don’t deal with.”
Travis’ dad, Ed Kelce, who first met Swift at a game in Kansas City on Oct. 12, also shared his thoughts on the relationship with PEOPLE, saying that the “Karma” singer is “a very, very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth young woman.”
