A.J. Brown’s resentment at his bit-part role for the Philadelphia Eagles is showing no signs of abating.

Early signs of discontent were already showing during a 4-0 run to start the Super Bowl defense.

A two-game losing streak has seen the tension bubble to the surface.

After a loss to the Denver Broncos, Saquon Barkley and Jalen Hurts confirmed they had been involved in a discussion with Brown on Monday.

“I felt like that conversation was meant to stay between us, but the focus was all about the team, and I think it was a good thing,” Barkley said. “I would definitely say it wasn’t like a players’ meeting.

“When you hear ‘players’ meeting,’ that’s like all hell’s breaking loose. It wasn’t that at all. But also that we’re teammates, we’re all friends, we’re just having a conversation.”

Whatever was said clearly didn’t have the required effect as the Eagles slumped to 4-2 with a 34-17 divisional loss to the struggling New York Giants.

Eagles offense stalls in Giants defeat
Barkley managed just 58 yards on the ground, while Brown had six catches for 80 yards.

The No. 1 wideout wasn’t targeted despite being open in the end zone as Hurts threw a crucial pick while chasing the game.

Asked about the discussion in the locker room, Brown cast doubt on whether it had even happened in a bizarre interview.

“I don’t recall a meeting,” he said. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. No — you need to talk to them. I don’t recall. I don’t recall.”

Baffled reporters tried to get more information but Brown, who was accused of giving up on a play in Week 5, wouldn’t budge.

Crucially, he didn’t deny that a meeting took place.  Just eight months on from the Super Bowl triumph, The City of Brotherly Love is feeling a little frosty.

Former Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers star Charles Woodson thinks heads could roll.  “Somebody in Philly is gettin fired,” the Hall of Famer wrote on X.

Unfortunately, Philly fans have been going through it right now and needed more details.  “As a Philadelphian just need you to clarify if you’re talking about Phillies, Eagles or Penn State…been a rough stretch,” one fan joked.

Add in the Flyers losing to the Florida Panthers and the Phillies’ elimination by the Los Angeles Dodgers and it has been a rough time.  Head coach Nick Sirianni was also under pressure at this point last season and ended up with a ring.

He admits that there is work to do.  “We have a lot of things to get fixed,” he said. “We just had an off night. Everybody did.”  Despite having a reverse of the Eagles record to sit bottom of the NFC East, things are looking rosier in the Big Apple.  Cam Skattebo is making headlines on and off the field, while Jaxson Dart is emerging as a talent.
