Andy Reid breaks silence after Travis Kelce and Chiefs coach bump and scream at each other in fiery sideline altercation

During the Kansas City Chiefs 22-9 win on Sunday Night Football against the New York Giants, Kelce and Reid were once again caught arguing on the sideline—a scene that’s become all too familiar for the two future Hall of Famers.
Kelce was walking off the field after another unsuccessful drive, and Reid sought him out, hitting him in the pads with his chest and getting into his tight end’s face. The head coach was clearly not happy with something Kelce had done in the moment.
However, when asked about it halftime, Reid said he appreciated the interaction. “That’s okay,” Reid said. “We need some juice, so that’s good.”
After the game, Reid spoke about their ‘scuffle’ to reporters. “He’s a passionate guy and I love that part,” Reid said of his tight end. “I’ve been through a lot of things with him, that’s all part of it. I love that he loves to play the game.”
“I love Travis’ passion, man. We need more of that. . . He knows when to back off the pedal and when to push it, too. . . Sometimes I have to be the policeman.” “No, he was all in, he was all in. Listen, he’s an emotional guy — he’s Irish,” Reid joked.
The Chiefs entered Sunday night winless through two weeks for the first time since 2014 and for the first time in Patrick Mahomes’ career. The offense has looked hapless at times, and the three-time Super Bowl MVP hasn’t looked like his usual self.
Then there’s Kelce, who has clearly lost a step or two. He’s still great when he needs to be, but he’s increasingly making costly mistakes and grabbing headlines for the wrong reasons.
Whether it’s injuring his own teammate, or dropping go-ahead touchdowns passes, it’s been a rough start for the 35-year-old star. The flashes of brilliance are coming less and less often.
If Kansas City wants to make their fourth straight Super Bowl, they are going to need Mahomes to be Mahomes again, and for Kelce and Reid to get back on the same page.
Everything has looked off and it’s on Kansas City’s big three to figure it out Sunday night was a good first step toward getting back into the win column, but the road to digging themselves out of their early 1-2 hole is only going to get tougher.
They host Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, travel south to face the Jacksonville Jaguars, and then welcome the Detroit Lions.
