Brittany Makes Historic Announcement After Chiefs Win

The Kansas City Chiefs finally made their way into the win column after defeating the New York Giants on Sunday Night Football.

During the 22-9 win, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 22-of-37 passes for 224 yards and a touchdown. While Kansas City’s offense continues to struggle without Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, Mahomes connected with Tyquan Thornton to score the first touchdown of the game. Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt scored the second after Thornton caught a 33-yard pass from Mahomes.

Cheering on the Chiefs at MetLife Stadium in Week 3, the three-time Super Bowl MVP’s wife, Brittany Mahomes. She attended the road game with her father-in-law, Pat Mahomes Sr., and brother-in-law, Jackson Mahomes.

Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce‘s fiancée, Taylor Swift, who usually sits with Brittany during away games, did not attend the primetime matchup.

While Brittany celebrated the Chiefs’ big win by posting highlights from the game on her Instagram Stories, she then commemorated another significant Kansas City victory. The 30-year-old former soccer player is a founding co-owner of the NWSL’s Kansas City Current, along with owners Chris and Angie Long. Mahomes joined as a co-owner in January 2023.

One day before the Chiefs snagged their first win of the season, the Current achieved a historic milestone.

The Mahomes’ investment in the KC Current continues to pay off. After the Current defeated the Seattle Reign 2-0 on Saturday, they became the fastest team in NWSL history to clinch the NWSL Shield by percentage of games played. This marks the first time in Current history that they have won the shield.

Brittany proudly posted the announcement on her Instagram Stories on Monday, September 22.

“It is a big trophy,” Current coach Vlatko Andonoski said, per ESPN. “Winning the season, winning it with [a] statement is not like — obviously any win is a win, it’s important, it’s good. But I thought that we won with a statement. We showed that, throughout the season, we were the best team in the league.”

Sitting 16 points ahead of the second-place team, the Current enter the postseason as the No. 1 seed and will host the No. 8 seed in the quarterfinals in November. If they can add seven more points before the regular season ends, they will tie the league record (60 points). If KC sags one more win this season, and they haven’t lost since May 2, they will tie the single-season league record (18).
