The Chiefs raise alarm bells with Patrick Mahomes and their first injury report before facing the Giants

In what seems like a disastrous start to the season for the Kansas City Chiefs, an unexpected surprise has raised concerns for many. The team is already dealing with several significant injuries, but losing Patrick Mahomes could mark the beginning of the end for their season aspirations.

Wednesday’s Chiefs practice report drew significant attention, particularly due to a specific detail about the team’s roster.

Mahomes listed as participating despite an injury

The quarterback was listed as a full participant, though the report noted that Mahomes has a wrist injury on his throwing hand.

What caught many by surprise was that neither Mahomes nor Andy Reid mentioned anything about it when speaking to the media before practice. The head coach only indicated that defensive end Mike Danna and cornerback Kristian Fulton would miss this part of the preparation, while Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals would participate.

Both Worthy and Royals practiced in a limited capacity, but all signs point to them being available for Sunday Night Football when the Chiefs visit the Giants. On Tuesday, the team made two moves to their practice squad: re-signing linebacker Cole Christiansen and releasing receiver Hal Pressley, reinforcing expectations that the roster will be fully available on Sunday.

As for Mahomes’ wrist injury, it didn’t appear to affect his performance during the media-observed practice periods.

Another name that unexpectedly appeared was rookie Josh Simmons, listed as limited due to illness. Simmons spoke to the media in the locker room before practice about his spectacular block against the Eagles, suggesting he will likely be available this weekend.
