Taylor Swift just said yes to a forever love story with Travis Kelce.  After two years of dating, the Grammy winner and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end are engaged, they shared on Augst 26.

As the couple announced in a joint Instagram post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The accompanying photos showed Travis down on one knee in an ethereal garden laden in pink and white roses. The subsequent images showed the couple embracing, as well as a close up look of Taylor’s gorgeous diamond ring.

Taylor and Travis, both 35, first sparked romance rumors in the summer of 2023, after the athlete attended the “Blank Space” singer’s Eras Tour concert at Arrowhead Stadium, where his attempt to give her a friendship bracelet was intercepted.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis said on a July 2023 episode of his New Heights podcast with brother Jason Kelce. “So I was a little butt-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

That bracelet, Travis noted, would’ve had his number on it.  And even though the opportunity was fumbled, the Ohio native ended up getting Taylor’s attention.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she told TIME in her December 2023 Person of the Year cover story. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.”

TRAVIS ENGAGEMENT

As the “Karma” artist noted, they didn’t go public with their relationship until the fall, when Taylor attended Travis’ Sept. 24 Chiefs game alongside his mom, Donna Kelce.

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple,” she confirmed. “I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Since then, the two have continued to show up for each other, with Taylor attending 13 Chiefs games, including their Super Bowl win against the San Francisco 49ers in February. While Travis has also flown all over the world to attend Taylor’s Eras Tour stops.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she told TIME. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

Taylor even gave Travis loving shoutouts in two songs—”So High School” and “The Alchemy”—on her album The Tortured Poets Department.  “Travis is so supportive of the entire album,” a source told E! News at the time, “and loves that he is a part of Taylor’s story.”

And Travis couldn’t help but gush over Taylor after seeing her updated Eras Tour concert in Paris the following month.  “I had a blast at Tay’s show,” Travis shared on his New Heights podcast. “Her new rendition of The Eras Tour—I suggest everybody go see it. It has her new Tortured Poets Department—a handful of those songs—in the new show, which means there’s a new segment and new lights and new dancing—new everything to the f–king show.”

And how are the two navigating the media attention surrounding their relationship? Let’s just say they’re shaking it off.

As the Super Bowl champion explained to WSJ. Magazine in November 2023, “The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life. When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.”

The duo also recently addressed how they navigate outside opinions when Taylor made her New Heights debut.

“We don’t,” Taylor confirmed. “Anything you feed your brain, it will internalize. Anything you feed the internet, it will kill. I’ve been in the music industry for 20 years. It’s pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point.”  “Something can be about me,” she added, “my name can be in the actual headline, and it can still be none of my business.”
