The Philadelphia Eagles put an emphatic end to the Kansas City Chiefs’ hopes of making history, securing a decisive 40-22 victory in Super Bowl LIX. While the Chiefs entered the game chasing a third consecutive championship, they were completely outmatched, leaving Mahomes and his team to pick up the pieces after a humbling defeat.
From start to finish, the Eagles controlled the game, putting up points with ease while smothering Kansas City’s offense. Mahomes, usually known for his poise under pressure, struggled throughout the night. He was sacked six times and threw two interceptions in a performance that left the Chiefs with little hope of mounting a comeback. Though the final score may suggest a competitive game, many of Kansas City’s points came after the result was all but decided.
Philadelphia fans take celebrations to extreme levels
Eagles fans wasted no time reveling in their team’s triumph, pouring into the streets to celebrate their second Lombardi Trophy. Fireworks erupted across the city, traffic signals were toppled, and Broad Street became the epicenter of the festivities.

However, some fans took things a step further in their celebrations, directing their antics at Patrick Mahomes. A viral video surfaced on social media showing a group of Eagles supporters burning a Kermit the Frog doll while chanting explicit messages about the Chiefs. The reference stems from long-standing jokes about Mahomes’ voice resembling that of the famous Muppet character-a comparison he has acknowledged, even mentioning that his own coach, Andy Reid, imitates him.
The video sparked divided reactions online. While some fans dismissed it as lighthearted fun, others criticized it as unnecessary and excessive. “It was a football game for crying out loud,” were the thoughts of one fan. “Brittany ain’t going to like that,” added another social media user, referring to Mahomes’ wife.
This isn’t the first time Mahomes has been the subject of taunts from opposing fan bases. Just weeks prior, Buffalo Bills fans displayed a green doll wearing Mahomes’ No. 15 jersey, hanging it from a pole ahead of the AFC Championship matchup. Brittany Mahomes called out the stunt on Instagram.
