Since Hurts assumed the Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback role in 2021, he’s played under three offensive coordinators. That total stretches to four if the four games he played in his rookie season are accounted for.
While taking a step back in passing volume in 2024, Hurts just capped a career-best mark in completion rate (68.7%) under offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. Moore, who helped propel the Eagles to their second Super Bowl victory in eight years, commanded the second-best rushing offense in the NFL in his first season with club.
The New Orleans Saints are finalizing a deal to poach Moore as their next head coach on Monday per NFL insider Ian Rapoport. “#Eagles OC Kellen Moore is finalizing a deal with the #Saints to be their new head coach, per The Insiders. What was expected for more than a week will be official soon,” Rapoport said on X. “Moore leaves Philly a Super Bowl champion, and now the work begins in New Orleans.
The deal is now agreed to and done. Kellen Moore is the #Saints coach. https://t.co/g1Q86a3Kpm

Moore, 35, is changing jobs for the fourth straight season, though he’s stepping into his first NFL head coaching role. He spent 2018-2022 with the Cowboys (the last four as OC), followed by a year with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023 before 2024’s coffee stop in Philadelphia.
Hurts amassed 293 total yards, two scores and was voted Super Bowl MVP under Moore’s guidance on Sunday. Prior to Moore, Hurts played two seasons under Shane Steichen and one with Brian Johnson since head coach Nick Sirianni took over the sidelines in 2021.
“He’s brought different ideas. He’s brought a different approach,” Hurts said of Moore. “My whole vantage point has always been to learn as much as I can. I’ve had different coordinators, different voices almost every year of my career. So my whole approach has been to just to learn as much as I can and take those different things in and apply them to my game and find ways to win.”
