Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts’ parents, Pamela and Averion Hurts, played a major role in the quarterback’s success. Jalen reflected on the impact his parents had in his life as the Eagles star prepared for the Super Bowl. Jalen’s dad Averion is a longtime high school football coach. Averion coached Jalen during his high school career at Channelview High School in Texas before the quarterback became a standout college football player for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Oklahoma Sooners.
Jalen’s mom Averion works in the education field. Ahead of the Super Bowl, the Eagles quarterback gushed over his parents’ role in his life. “They rooted me to work, to persevere, to have integrity and to be dedicated,” Jalen explained, per AL.com’s Mark Inabinett.

“Those are all characteristics that they’ve always displayed, and it’s been easy to follow them in their footsteps in that regard, so very blessed for them – both of them – and, obviously, very blessed to have this opportunity again.”
From the Super Bowl to being engaged, it has been a good stretch for the Eagles signal-caller. Back in Sept., Jalen revealed he got engaged to longtime girlfriend Bry Burrows. The couple has moved from an engagement ring to a Super Bowl ring as Jalen and Bry look ahead to their eventual wedding. Jalen has been open about aiming to break barriers for future Black quarterbacks.
“I literally just got a text from someone who is a quarterback, an aspiring quarterback in the professionals, talking about just leading the way and paving the way for the young Black kings coming up,” Jalen remarked on Thursday, per US Weekly. “That means a lot because everybody’s always watching.” “Thinking about leadership, thinking about those abilities and being able to lead a group of men, that’s something that many people didn’t think that a person like myself was capable of.”
