Princess Leonor of Bourbon is embarking on her first solo trip. The heir to the throne of Spain, 18 years old, has chosen New York as her destination, probably, the tabloids say, to meet a “very special friend”. The boy in question is named Gabriel Giacomelli, 19 years old, and the two met during their study period at the UWC Atlantic College in the United Kingdom.
Their friendship (because that’s all it seems to be) has become so strong that Gabriel participated in the royal family’s trip for Easter 2022, and also at the 70th birthday of Paloma Rocasolano, Leonor’s maternal grandmother. However, sources told Hola! magazine that there is no romantic story between the two.
This has not prevented the international press from speculating about the private life of the heir to the throne: for example, the German magazine Bunte has published some details about the boy in question. His family is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, but he has spent half of his life in New York. Gabriel is the second boyfriend attributed to Princess Leonor: her first love was said to be the footballer Gavi, a midfielder for Barcelona. But it seems there is little truth to this: simply the footballer had given King Felipe a signed shirt to give to his daughter. Which perhaps was not even Leonor, but her sister Sofia, who is passionate about soccer.
