New York Jets Star Player Shot in Manhattan Early Sunday Morning and is Fighting for His Life

Many prayers need to be sent towards Kris Boyd this week.  The New York Jets’ star cornerback is in critical condition after reportedly being shot in Manhattan. The team is currently on its bye week.

Boyd is said to be clinging to life at Bellevue Hospital, police sources tell the NY Post.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the NFL community, took place in the early hours of Sunday. Boyd was reportedly shot around 2 a.m. on West 38th Street, according to the publication.

Police officials have not formally identified the 29-year-old victim, but enough sources have revealed that it is Kris Boyd who was shot and is fighting for his life.

The 5-foot-11 defensive veteran is in his first season with the New York Jets after joining them this past offseason.

Before the Jets, Boyd spent the 2024 season with the Houston Texans, where he racked up eight tackles. He also spent the 2023 season with the Cardinals and Texans combined.

This shooting comes weeks after former New York Jets legend Nick Mangold passed away, weeks after he publicly revealed he needed a kidney transplant. Mangold was 41 years old.
