Josh Allen admits that Patrick Mahomes’ play left him “breathless” at the end of Bills-Chiefs
Both quarterbacks are clear candidates for this season’s NFL MVP and are aware of their rivals’ talent. The Buffalo Bills managed to secure a 28-21 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, but the real battle was between the quarterbacks.
Josh Allen not only achieved another win with his team, but also outperformed Patrick Mahomes. However, he knew he shouldn’t underestimate the Kansas City QB.
Allen confesses his fear in Bills-Chiefs
Leading Buffalo to its second consecutive victory, Josh completed 23 of 26 passes for 273 yards, with a completion percentage of 88.5%, the highest of his career. In addition, he added two rushing touchdowns, one passing touchdown, and no interceptions.
On the other hand, this Bills victory ended the Chiefs’ three-game winning streak. Mahomes did not have his best night: completing 15 of 34 passes for 250 yards, he had a completion percentage of 44.1% (the worst of his career). He also ended the night without any touchdowns and with one interception.
Despite this, Allen knew that Patrick could surprise the Bills, especially at the end of the game when, with 0:22 seconds left, the Chiefs recovered the ball on their own 42-yard line. A TD and the extra point were enough to extend the game, something Josh didn’t think was impossible knowing and having faced the Kansas City and Mahomes, although it ultimately didn’t happen.
After the game, while talking to the press, a reporter asked him about those last few seconds and if he had breathed. Allen admitted, “No… You never know with Pat.”

The truth is that Patrick has led 23 winning offensive series in the regular season over his nine years in the league. In addition, he has seven more in the postseason, three of which are against the Bills.
These numbers meant that Allen wasn’t the only one holding his breath, as fans couldn’t take their eyes off the game or relax until it was over:
“All of us,” said one of them. “Same Josh!” said another. “Gotta be honest here… I was locked in on us blowing that,” shared a third user. “I wasn’t confident until the clock hit :00,” wrote another.
Meanwhile, Allen and the Bills are preparing to extend their winning streak against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 9, at Hard Rock Stadium. It will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
Mahomes and the Chiefs will return to action after their bye week on Sunday, November 16, when they visit and face the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High. The Week 11 game will be broadcast on CBS.
